16,000-Pound Whale Washes Ashore In NC

• A 16,000-pound humpback whale washed ashore on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, between the towns of Avon and Buxton.
• The whale, nearly 34 feet long, was on its way to warmer waters.
• The National Park Service said it death is likely due to the fishing line wrapped around its tail fluke.
