  • Videos show huge plumes of smoke engulfing the sky from the South Fork Dairy in Dimmitt. Smoke from the explosion could be seen from as far as 80 miles away.
  • At least 18,000 cattle have been killed in the explosion and resulting fires, according to Texas authorities.
  • “There’s some that survived, there’s some that are probably injured to the point where they’ll have to be destroyed,” according to Castro County Sheriff Sal Rivera.
