Authorities have charged four teenagers in connection with the fatal shooting of a Chicago police officer who was killed over the weekend while heading home from work.
According to officials, Joseph Brooks and Trevell Breeland, both 19 years old, as well as 18-year-old Jakwon Buchanan and a 16-year-old boy, face charges of armed robbery and first-degree murder in the death of Officer Aréanah Preston, 24, on Saturday.
CBS Chicago reported that the 16-year-old suspect will be tried as an adult. The Chicago Police Department stated that Preston was shot and killed during a robbery spree at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Saturday.Click to read full article
