- In 2021, 519 service members died by suicide; in 2020, 582 died by suicide.
- “There is an increasing trend for all services between 2011 and 2021,” stated Clark. “In the short term, the Army rate [of suicides] was similar to last year, and there was a decrease with the Navy, the Marine Corps, and the Air Force. The Air Force was the only statistically significant decrease.”
- Overall, young men were the most active service members who died by suicide.
