Air Force Caught Aiding Opposition Research Against GOP House Candidate

  • The Air Force admitted it improperly released a GOP House candidate’s personnel record to an “opposition” firm, including details about the female airmen’s sexual assault during her service.
  • Indiana Republican Reps. Jim Banks and Larry Bucshon confirmed that the Air Force “took full responsibility for improperly releasing” the records of USAF Lt. Col. Jennifer-Ruth Green, who is running for Congress in the state.
  • Politico used the personnel records to report earlier this month that Green had been assaulted while serving in Iraq.
  • The congressmen said in a joint statement that the leaker “has been identified and will be held accountable,” citing Air Force Inspector General Lt. Gen. Stephen Davis.
