- Airlines operating within the United States were compelled to cancel over 850 flights on Wednesday in response to the landfall of Hurricane Idalia in Florida’s Big Bend region. The storm reached the area as a Category 3 hurricane, marked by its “extremely dangerous” designation.
- In specific figures, Southwest Airlines found it necessary to cancel upwards of 200 flights. Concurrently, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines took the decision to cancel 148 and 98 flights, respectively, as per data recorded at 8:17 a.m. ET, as outlined by the flight-tracking website Flightaware.com.
