Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA) announced on Thursday that 99% of its members have voted in favor of authorizing a strike.
The union said in a press release that 98% of its members participated in the vote, which was supposed to run through the end of May but was completed in less than two weeks.
The pilots cited operational failures and a lack of progress in negotiations that have been stagnant for over three years as the main reasons for the strike authorization.
