Alaska Cancels Snow Crab Season, Cites Dwindling Population

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has for the first time in state history canceled the state's winter snow crab season in the Bering Sea.

Officials cited the falling numbers in the state’s snow crab population as reason for the cancelation.

Cancelation is being considered major blow to the United State’ seafood industry.

State officials say an estimated 1 billion crabs have mysteriously disappeared in past two years – a 90% drop in their population.
