• Panera Bread, the US café restaurant chain, announced the addition of Amazon’s palm-scanning technology, letting diners pay with a swipe of a hand.
• The food company will launch the system in two locations in St. Louis, where customers can use Amazon One for loyalty linking, ordering history and payment – other establishments will receive the technology in the coming months.
• The news comes as Amazon faces a class-action lawsuit accusing it of not informing New York City customers of biometric information collection in Amazon Go stores – including the palm-scanning.
