An American couple was caught attempting to smuggle 375 pounds of Fruit Roll-Ups in suitcases through Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv after the price of the candy skyrocketed in Israel due to a viral TikTok video.
The couple, who has not been identified, was stopped for exceeding the 11-pound food limit. A customs official is seen rifling through the bags in a video posted by Israeli news outlet Mako, while someone off-camera claims that the treats were brought for their family.
A single pack of Fruit Roll-Ups costs about 50 cents in American stores but can sell for up to $6 in Israel due to a TikTok video showing fans how to freeze and use it as a makeshift crunchy cone.
