Another Norfolk-Southern Train Derailment in Ohio

The derailment occurred early Saturday evening in the area of the township of Springfield, following the Feb. 3 derailment in the eastern Ohio city of East Palestine that resulted in hazardous materials onboard being released into the environment.

  • Local and state first-responders confirmed Sunday no hazardous materials were found at a train derailment.
  • About 20 of the 212 cars on the Norfolk Southern train derailed.
  • The derailed cars reportedly include four tankers carrying non-hazardous materials: two with small amounts of diesel exhaust fluid and two with residual amounts of polyacrylamide water solution.
  • The Clark County Hazmat team assisted the Springfield Township Fire Department officials in responding.
  • Ohio Environmental Protection Agency also reportedly responded, and no injures were reported.
