President Joe Biden and his family are set to arrive on Nantucket Tuesday evening aboard Air Force One for their traditional Thanksgiving holiday stay.
This long-standing tradition, lasting over 40 years, sees the presidential security entourage building up with multiple aircraft delivering vehicles, equipment, and supplies to Nantucket Memorial Airport.
During their stay, the Bidens will once again reside at the private compound of David Rubenstein, a prominent private equity billionaire, on Nantucket Harbor.
While President Biden’s public schedule remains open, he is expected to visit the downtown area on Friday and attend the annual tree lighting ceremony on Main Street at 4 p.m.
Nantucket Police Lt. Angus MacVicar anticipates minimal changes from President Biden’s previous visit to the island.
Furthermore, island hotels will accommodate Secret Service agents, government personnel, Massachusetts State Police Troopers, and off-island media.
