August Jobs Report Expected To Show Hiring Still Hot

Economists expect 318,000 jobs added last month, jobless rate holding at 3.5%

  • Labor Department’s release expected to be one of the last big economic reports before Fed considers its late September meeting to raise rates.
  • August number still, however, expected to be less than surprisingly strong 528,000 added in July, according to Dow Jones.
  • Other important data Fed will consider at Sept. 20-21 meeting is August consumer price index, released Sept. 13.
  • As a result of falling gas prices, CPI expected to be high but lower than July’s 8.5% annualized pace.
