• Billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is being sued by his former housekeeper Mercedes Wedaa, who alleges racial discrimination and unsafe working conditions.
• Wedaa’s suit alleges she and other housekeepers weren’t allowed to enter the house while Bezos was home, adding that “For about 18 months, in order to use a bathroom, Plaintiff and other housekeepers were forced to climb out the laundry room window to the outside then run along the path to the mechanical room, through the mechanical room and downstairs to a bathroom.”
• Wedaa also alleges that she was retaliated against for being Hispanic when she lodged complaints about the treatment.
• An attorney for Bezos claims the claims “lack merit,” and that Wedaa was fired for cause.
