- The Environmental Protection Agency has found a target for new regulations: home appliances.
- On Friday the EPA proposed new rules that would restrict the use of refrigerators, air conditioning equipment and heat pumps that utilize hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).
- The agency intends to reduce the production and consumption of HFCs by 85% by 2036, in accordance with a global climate treaty ratified by the Senate in September.
