- President Joe Biden dodged responsibility for high levels of inflation on Friday when a reporter inquired if he was to blame, instead arguing higher prices were an issue during the last administration.
- When a reporter questioned whether Biden took any blame for inflation, the president flatly said “no.” When asked why, he responded, “It was there when I got here, man.”
- The Consumer Price Index, a key inflation metric, was at 1.4 percent when Biden took office in January 2021 and grew to 7 percent by the end of the year. The inflation rate reached 9.1 percent in July 2022.
