Biden Headed To Asia As US Nears Debt Default

President Joe Biden is set for an eight-day trip to Asia starting Wednesday, even as the White House continues to grapple with unresolved negotiations with Congress regarding the debt ceiling.

The deadline to address the debt ceiling is June 1, and failure to reach an agreement by then could result in the United States defaulting on its loans.

Biden’s departure for Asia means that he will only have a few days following his return to reach a consensus with congressional leaders.
