The White House announced Friday that Neera Tanden will be taking over as chief of the domestic policy council, replacing Susan Rice.

With a Republican-controlled House and a slim majority in the Senate creating turbulence for President Joe Biden’s domestic agenda, Tanden, the former president of the Center for American Progress and a past nominee to lead the Office of Management and Budget, will be relied upon in the new role.

Tanden’s nomination was defeated in 2021 due to past personal issues and numerous unprofessional tweets.
