Biden Says No To US F-16 Fighter Jets To Ukraine

President Biden indicated Monday the U.S. will not provide F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, just days after he OK'd the delivery of Abrams battle tanks to the country as it tries to stop the Russia invasion.

  • Biden said “no” when reporters asked whether the U.S. would provide such support, according to The Hill newspaper.
  • Last week, the administration announced it would supply 31 M1 Abrams battle tanks to the Ukrainian forces, though, delivery and training will prevent that armor from taking the field for several months.
  • Kyiv promptly renewed its request for F-16 fighters after the tank announcement.
  • White House adviser John Kirby last week said he “can’t blame the Ukrainians for wanting more and more systems,” as the invasion nears the one-year mark.
