- President on Sunday endorsed the California bill to expand union organizing rights for agricultural workers.
- Bill is supported by labor organizers who are now pressuring Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom to sign the legislation.
- State lawmakers last week sent bill to Newsom that if signed into law would allow farmworkers to choose whether they want to vote in a union election in person, by mail or by submitting a card to state Agricultural Labor Relations Board office.
- “In the state with the largest population of farmworkers, the least we owe them is an easier path to make a free and fair choice to organize a union,” Biden said Sunday.
- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, has asked Newsom to sign the bill.
