Boebert Blames Ryan Reynolds, Barbra Streisand For Her District Switch

In a recent interview on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) revealed that she is blaming Hollywood stars for her decision to switch districts. She claims that actors Ryan Reynolds and Barbra Streisand are among those who are “trying to buy” her current congressional district by donating to her Democrat opponent, Adam Frisch. Boebert emphasized that she is making this switch to defend and advance conservative principles, while also accusing Hollywood elites of attempting to purchase her current seat.

Boebert’s decision to switch districts was announced last week, and it was done to avoid a rematch with Frisch. During the 2022 midterms, she barely defeated Frisch by about 546 votes. However, since then, Frisch has managed to raise more funds for his campaign, with $7.7 million compared to Boebert’s $2.2 million. This has led Boebert to complain about the close to $10 million that has been allegedly poured into her current district to buy the seat, with Hollywood playing a significant role in terms of funding her opponents.

Boebert’s repeated claims that she “will not allow dark money to steal this seat” have fueled her supporters to accuse Democrats of using shady tactics to win in areas that have traditionally been supportive of Republicans. In the recent interview, she again reiterates her belief that Hollywood elites are trying influence the election. Streisand reportedly donated $1,000 to Frisch’s campaign in April, and Reynolds donated $500 in March.

“It’s coming from Hollywood when you have Barbra Streisand coming in and donating to the Democrat, when you have Ryan Reynolds coming in and donating to the Democrat,” she said. “It shows you that Hollywood is trying to buy their way into Congress.”

Following her district switch, Boebert will now run for Rep. Ken Buck’s (R-Colo.) seat, which he announced would be given up at the end of his current term. This move has opened up the GOP nomination for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, giving the Republican candidate a stronger chance of defeating Frisch. Boebert’s supporters have praised this move, hoping that it will lead to a Republican victory in November.

Despite her supporters’ optimism, Boebert has been riddled with controversies during her tenure, including her involvement in the Capitol Hill riots and agitating for gun rights. Some have called into question her ability to represent her constituents effectively, leading to concerns about her electability in the upcoming election. Nevertheless, Boebert has remained steadfast in her beliefs, advocating for conservative principles and denouncing any attempts to use dark money or Hollywood’s influence to sway the outcome of elections.
