- Gaetz filed the resolution, known as a Motion to Vacate, after McCarthy worked with Democrats in the Republican-majority House to pass a funding bill Saturday night to avoid a partial government shutdown.
- The bill, signed by President Biden, will keep the federal government fully operation for 45 days.
- The resolution will trigger a House vote on whether to keep or oust McCarthy as speaker.
