- Chicago officials plan to use the former South Shore High School as temporary housing for as many as 500 illegal aliens.
- Chicago residents of the heavily Democratic South Shore neighborhood aren’t happy about that and have filed suit, objecting to the fact they weren’t consulted and the school isn’t zoned for residential use.
- As recently as 2020, 97% of South Shore residents in Chicago voted for President Joe Biden.
- In early May, South Shore residents filled an auditorium to air their complaints. One wanted to know: “How could you do that without consulting us?” Another was more terse: “Build the wall. Make a border.”
