Bus Carrying High School Band Rolls Off Highway, 2 Killed

  • A tragic accident occurred when a bus transporting members of a high school marching band to a music camp veered off a highway and plunged down a steep ravine in New York state on Thursday. The devastating incident claimed the lives of two individuals and left dozens injured, with several of them sustaining severe injuries.
  • New York Governor Kathy Hochul addressed the incident during a news conference held several hours after the accident. She indicated that it appeared likely “a faulty front tire contributed to the accident,” though a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the crash was still ongoing.
  • Lieutenant Colonel Richard Mazzone of the New York State Police provided details, stating that the wreck resulted in the fatalities of two adult women among the 44 passengers on board. The group comprised 40 students and four adults from Farmington High School on Long Island, who were en route to Pennsylvania.
