A California mom sounded the alarm this week about a girls’ volleyball team in her district being forced to compete against a biological male.
The mom told the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Board on Tuesday that the district’s Valencia High School team was slated for a playoff match against Jurupa Valley High School. AB Hernandez, a transgender athlete who has drawn national attention in multiple sports, is a member of the Jurupa Valley team.
“That’s not fair to those girls, and it’s not safe. They’ve worked for years to earn this moment and they deserve a level playing field without being threatened,” the mom said.
The Valencia team ultimately won in three straight sets on Wednesday, ending Jurupa Valley’s season.
