- Canadian Government House leader Karina Gould stood on Monday to seek unanimous consent to adopt a motion calling to strike “from the appendix of the House of Commons debates” and from “any House multimedia recording” the recognization made by Speaker Anthony Rota of Hunka, whom he described as “a Ukrainian hero, a Canadian hero.”
- Conservatives were quick to deny the motion.
- “It would be absolutely wrong to strike what was said from the record. It goes without saying that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. What happened on Friday was shameful and brought embarrassment to this chamber,” said Conservative MP Marty Morantz.
