- Hans Niemann, the 19-year-old American chess grandmaster, sued Norwegian foe Magnus Carlsen after he and others alleged that Niemann cheated.
- Niemann is is seeking $100 million in damages, alleging that Carlsen, 31, his company Play Magnus Group, Chess.com executive Daniel Rensch and Japanese-American chess grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura conspired to destroy his reputation and livelihood.
- After Niemann ended Carlsen’s 53-game winning streak in September, wild allegations arose that Niemann had cheated. That included suggestions that Niemann had used a rectally inserted sex toy to assist him in his game with Carlson.
