Chinese Startup’s $140,000 Car Can Fly Over Traffic Jams

  • The crowd of hundreds roared in Mandarin as the two-seat gull-winged plane rose and hovered some 30 meters (100 feet) above their heads before gently descending back to earth. “Make us Chinese proud in Dubai!” shouted some of the enthusiasts at the same time.
  • In the past few months, China’s Xpeng Aeroht has conducted two maiden public flights for its aircraft.
  • The 90-second exercise near Dubai’s iconic Palm Jumeirah island in October was followed by another in Guangzhou, China — milestones for the startup, which is backed by electric vehicle maker Xpeng Inc., overcoming regulatory hurdles and grabbing a piece of that , in what’s being touted as a $1 trillion market that could redefine the way we move.
