Christie Says Trump Kept Classified Docs As ‘Trophy’

Former New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday that former President Trump kept classified White House documents “as a trophy,” as Trump and the federal government's lawyer battle in court over his legal authority to having had them before seized this summer by the FBI at Trump's Florida home.

Christie was among more than a dozen candidates competing with Trump in 2016 for the GOP presidential nomination.

The Christie-Trump relationship has since been off and on.

“He wanted to keep these documents as a trophy. That’s what they were, more than anything,” Christie, and ABC News contributor and former Trump adviser, said on the network’s Sunday morning show “This Week.”

FBI agents seized over 100 classified documents and dozens of empty folders labeled classified at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
