Colorado Senator Calls On Apple And Google To Ban TikTok

Follows Congressional ban on app’s use on government devices

  • In a letter to Google parent Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple CEO Tim Cook, Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) has called for the companies to remove TikTok from their app stores.
  • “TikTok poses a unique concern because Chinese law obligates ByteDance, its Beijing-based parent company, to ‘support, assist, and cooperate with state intelligence work,’” Bennet wrote in the letter dated February 1.
  • Bennet’s appeal follows numerous Republican efforts to curb TikTok’s growing infiltration into the United States.
