• The East Lansing Police Department released an advisory on its Facebook page on Monday night saying they are aware of “an individual in the downtown district wearing a black plastic mask and reported to be carrying a hammer and scissors.”
• The department said it met with the individual and his family over the weekend to discuss the concerning behavior. In addition, police are working with ELPD’s Neighborhood Resource Teams, Crisis Intervention Team, and social workers.
• It appears many in the community have rejected the department’s approach.
