‘Crime Dog’ Fred McGriff Elected to Baseball Hall Of Fame

- Fred McGriff, one of Major League Baseball’s most under-appreciated sluggers, was unanimously elected to baseball’s Hall of Fame by the Hall’s “Contemporary Era” committee.
- McGriff, nicknamed “The Crime Dog,” consistently put up huge offensive numbers, but was overshadowed by contemporaries who posted video-game during the steroid era.
- The “Contemporary Era” committee has 16 members, and players needed 12 votes to reach the Hall.
