- A staffer for Democratic Virginia Rep. Don Beyer was fired earlier this week because she allegedly was working on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Washington.
- The staffer, Barbary Hamlett, is accused of attempting to arrange meetings between congressional staffers and Chinese Embassy officials for at least the past several months.
- Beyer first learned of the reports Tuesday from the House Sergeant at Arms. Breyer’s office investigated Wednesday, confirmed the reports and fired Hamlett.
