On Sunday, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper expressed his concern that the newly passed 12-week abortion ban in the state would endanger millions of residents’ access to necessary medical procedures.

He urged Republican lawmakers to refrain from overriding the veto he promised to sign, stating that the ban would create significant barriers for women, clinics, and doctors, ultimately leading to an effective ban on many abortions.

During an appearance on “Face the Nation,” Cooper pointed out that the Republicans had disguised the bill as a 12-week ban, but in reality, it would significantly impede access to reproductive freedom for women. He went on to criticize the swift passage of the bill, which was passed in 48 hours without any public input or amendments.
