DeSantis Objects To CCP-Backed Firm Buying Large Florida Parcel

• Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn’t happy that a Chinese firm has purchased 1,400 acres of land in t he state for. a primate breeding facility.
• The land in Levy County was purchased by JOINN Laboratories CA Inc. for about $5.5 million.
• JOINN is located in California, but is the subsidiary of Beijing-based. drug developer JOINN Laboratories, which has ties to the Chinese military.
• “The governor has been consistently opposed to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ‘s growing influence in Florida, and this proposed facility is a prime example of the type of activity that we are acting to prohibit,” DeSantis’ office said in an emailed statement.
