On Tuesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill that prohibits automatic payroll deductions for teachers union dues.
The “Employee Organizations Representing Public Employees” law mandates that public-employee unions can no longer deduct dues from paychecks without individual consent, and must inform members of union costs on an annual basis.
The bill was approved by the state Senate in March by a margin of 23-17 and the state House by a vote of 72-44.
