D’oh! Disney Again Bows To CCP Over ‘Simpsons’ Episode

“The Simpsons” episode pulled from Hong Kong streaming lineup

  • An episode of “The Simpsons” that included criticisms of Communist China was removed from Disney’s Hong Kong streaming service.
  • In the episode, Marge rides on an exercise bike and takes a virtual tour of China during which time the instructor says, “Behold the wonders of China. Bitcoin mines, forced labor camps where children make smartphones.”
  • Fearing legal scrutiny under the repressive national security law imposed by Beijing on Hong Kong, Disney yanked the episode from its platform.
  • Disney previously removed an episode of “The Simpsons” that mentioned Beijing’s 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.
