Lawmakers accused Disney executives of bowing to the Chinese government after reneging on an offer to meet with Uyghur genocide victims.
A group of Uyghurs, their families and advocates approached Disney to discuss the company’s relationship with Beijing and decision to film a movie in the province where China is oppressing the Muslim minority.
Disney initially agreed to meet, but “suddenly cut off the correspondence” and “evaded meeting with victims of the Uyghur genocide,” according to a letter from lawmakers to Disney CEO Robert Iger.
