El Chapo’s Sons Among Dozens Of Sinaloa Cartel Members Facing U.S. Charges

Indictments filed in New York, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.

  • On Friday, the U.S. Justice Department announced charges against 28 members of the Sinaloa Cartel, including the sons of the infamous drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. 
  • These charges were the outcome of a broad investigation into fentanyl trafficking and were announced by Attorney General Merrick Garland and Drug Enforcement Administration Director Anne Milgram. 
  • The charges against the accused vary from manufacturing the illegal drug to participating in the drug operation’s supply chain, including providing the necessary chemicals for producing fentanyl, managing the labs, and supplying security and weapons, among others.
