  • As tensions between China and Taiwan simmer at their highest point in decades, officials in both places have recently clashed over an unsolicited idea from billionaire Elon Musk.
  • The world’s richest man suggested in an interview that hostilities between the two could be resolved if Taipei handed some control of the democratically governed island to Beijing.
  • “My recommendation … would be to figure out a special administrative zone for Taiwan that is reasonably palatable, probably won’t make everyone happy,” Musk said.
