Endangered Parrot Could Shut Down Wind Farm For 7 Months

- An Australian wind-farm proposal was green-lighted this month, on the condition that it shut down five months of the year so that the turbines don’t harm the migrating orange-bellied parrot, which is said to be critically endangered.
- The proposed Robbins Island Renewable Energy Park would have as many as 122 turbines.
- The turbines would have to shut down for three months in the spring and two months in the fall to accommodate the orange-bellied parrots migration habits.
