Even Estranged VP Pence Says Trump Indictment ‘Political Prosecution’

  • Former Vice President Mike Pence made the comment after former President Trump alleged Saturday that he’ll be arrested Tuesday, apparently in connection to an investigation by Manhattan prosecutors into a $130,000-hush- money payment to porn Actress Stormy Daniels in October 2016.
  • “Like many Americans, I’m just, I’m taken aback,” Pence said later Saturday morning on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News. “You have a major crime wave in New York, especially in New York City. “It reeks of the kind of political prosecution that we endured back in the days of the Russia hoax and the whole impeachment over a phone call.”
  • Pence, as he appears to be considering a 2024 presidential bid, has been increasingly critical of Trump, for whom he served as vice president.
  • In recent days, Pence has said Trump “endangered my family” on Jan. 6, 2021, by encouraging supporters to go the Capitol to opposed the certification of the 2020 election results, which Trump lost and over which Pence was presiding.
