Last year, Tiffany Cross was fired from MSNBC, and she believes it was a result of former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s criticisms of her show.
Cross claimed that Carlson suggested she was trying to start a race war, causing the network to begin scrutinizing her show and ultimately fire her.
Cross describes her experience with MSNBC executives as condescending, and she claims that they questioned her intelligence.
She also believes that MSNBC “planted hit pieces in the press” and portrayed her as unreliable to potential future employers. Additionally, she accused fellow anchor Joe Scarborough of being in on the plot against her, calling him MSNBC’s “favorite white boy.”
Cross describes a battle with the network’s philosophy of covering Trump constantly, rather than focusing on news relevant to black, Afro-Latino, and Native American communities.
Despite this, The Cross Connection was the 16th most popular show on MSNBC, averaging the second most African-American viewers of any weekend cable news show, according to an internal memo.
