FBI Raids Homes Tied To Anti-Israel Protest At University Of Michigan

The FBI on Wednesday raided the homes of multiple anti-Israel protesters who allegedly participated in demonstrations at the University of Michigan.

The university was one of the many schools that saw demonstrations last year over the war in Israel. The main protest was held at Columbia University in New York, but other schools like Harvard and the University of California, Los Angeles also saw protests.

It is not clear what the raids were in response to, but the individuals are not being investigated for being in the country illegally, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office told National Review. The arrests occurred in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and Canton, Michigan.

Several people were briefly detained over the execution of the search warrants, but were eventually released, the outlet reported. No charges against them have been announced so far.

One anti-Israel group said the protesters were raided because of their views on Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza. The group claimed there were eight protesters who were detained, and four homes were raided.

The group also alleged that local police seized electronics and personal belongings of the protesters.
