Federal officials reviewed Bad Bunny’s 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance and found it didn’t violate rules banning indecent and profane content during primetime hours, a source with direct knowledge of the matter informed The New York Post.
Amid complaints from Republican lawmakers about the lyrics in the six-time Grammy winners’ halftime performance, the Federal Communications Commission reviewed the show and concluded inappropriate lyrics had been removed.
Bad Bunny’s performance was seen as controversial from the moment it was announced, with some up in arms that it would be entirely in Spanish, and others taking issue with the themes, sometimes left-leaning politically, ingrained in his music.
Despite the backlash, the performance was among the most-watched in Super Bowl history, with many applauding Bad Bunny’s messages of unity and homage to Puerto Rico, where the reggaeton sensation is from.
