Feds To Make Good On Replacing Containers in Arizona With Border Wall

Construction on a barrier at the Yuma sector of the southern U.S. border will start this week, Customs and Border Protection said several days ago.

  • The agency issued a release saying the federal government would “close gaps” near the Morelos Dam, a primary location for illegal crossings in Arizona.
  • Arizona’s previous governor, Republican Doug Ducey, had his administration placed storage containers at the gaps, which led to a lawsuit and their subsequent removal.
  • Court proceeding on the matter reportedly include assurance that the federal government would go forward with the project of building the stretch of wall  in exchange for taking down the containers.
