Amid a 1,500+ page continuing resolution to fund the federal government being released to the public Tuesday night, Gov. Ron DeSantis reiterated a proposal he has for the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
The bill includes a cost-of-living pay increase for members of Congress – the first since 2009, according to Punchbowl. It also reportedly includes allowing Congressional members to “opt out” from the requirement to use Obamacare.
“Remember how Gov. Ron DeSantis said we needed a constitutional amendment to ensure the laws that apply to the American people also apply to members of Congress?” said Jeremy Redfern, press secretary for the governor.
DeSantis also highlighted a post from Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., noting how the congressman predicted Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., would “use the Christmas recess to force a massive spending bill through Congress.”
