• A law barring public universities from funding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion was approved by Florida lawmakers.
• The bill was approved by the Florida House, 81-34, after the state Senate passed it on a 27-12 vote last week. The bill has been sent to Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for final approval.
• Under the legislation, public higher education institutions would be prohibited from spending taxpayer money on programs or activities that peddle DEI or “promote or engage in political or social activism,” its text reads.
