Ford, GM To Furlough Additional 500 Workers Because Of Impact Of UAW Strike

  • Ford and General Motors are indefinitely laying off another 500 workers at four Midwestern plants because of the impact of the United Auto Workers strike on some of  the automakers’ facilities.
  • The strike is now in its 18th day.
  • Ford is furloughing a total of 330 workers at its Chicago Stamping and Lima and Ohio Engine plants, while GM’s most recent furlough plans includes sending home 130 employees at its Parma, Ohio Metal Center and 34 at its Marion, Indiana Metal Center.
