Formula 1 Scrubs The 2023 Chinese Grand Prix

- Following communist China’s severe Covid-19 lockdowns that led to the most significant protests in the country since 1989, Formula One axed the Chinese Grand Prix from its 2023 calendar.
- Last year, F1 announced its intent to return to the Shanghai International Circuit after a three-year pandemic-induced hiatus.
- A short statement issued by F1 said, “Formula 1 can confirm, following dialogue with the promoter and relevant authorities, that the 2023 Chinese Grand Prix will not take place due to the ongoing difficulties presented by the COVID-19 situation.”
